AFSO is governed by the board of directors, the board of advisors, and the professional team that evaluates, designs, and implements project activities. Currently, AFSO has 7 full-time paid staff in three different departments 1) Administration and Finance 2) Program 3) Research and Communications.
As the sole forensic science organization in Afghanistan, AFSO’s mission is to promote and enhance the use of quality forensic science in Afghanistan. AFSO is dedicated to helping governmental and civil society organizations in forensic science research and practice. In addition, AFSO seeks to safeguard human rights by utilizing modern forensic science tools and technology to monitor, evaluate, analyze, and document instances of violation. AFSO strives to empower public and private university students through capacity-building programs, fostering their knowledge in the areas of human rights and the rule of law.
